What year is my Johnson 25 hp?

Hi all, I'm having trouble finding the year of my 25 hp Johnson and require some assistants. I think I got the model No. right it is 25BS1. I also have an old Evinrude motor model No. 3502 A. I think it's a 1965 model can anyone confirm?

Your 25hp model number doesn't look right. Any chance it could be 25R71? Which would make it a 1971...

As for the Evinrude, 3502 is indeed a 1965.

It's a bit of a mystery because I can't find a manufacturers plate but the numbers 25BS1 are engraved on the transom mount along side 190353 which I assume is the serial number. Thats the best I can do.

Hope this helps. If I had to guess I'd say it's somewhere around a 1998 model (but that is a guess).

Ok well then the model number will be a different style. Look for a welch plug, about the size of a quarter and shiny (or black) on the powerhead. Your model number will look something like J25EECA or the like.

The number on the welch plug is G8262731. I also found TG111041Q engraved near the base of the engine. I still can't match them to anything, I'm thinking I'll take it back to the workshop I got it from and get them to figure it out.

G8262731 is your serial number. The dealer can tell the year from it. I cannot.
