What year is my Force 50hp?

Could someone tell me how to read the serial # to tell the year, on a Force / Bayline Bass boat I just picked up??

the model # on mine tells me hp & year. 856X4L = 85hp, 1984. don't know what the 6X stands for & the L was probably the next letter in line for this model.

Post the boat hull id number off the back of the transom.

And post the motor model number.
