what year engine do i have?

I recently aquired a new toy. The engine was replaced with this one B647312 mercruiser 165. Can anyone tell me the year of the engine?

It's a 1987 engine, 3.7/470 type engine,

Thanks. any idea where i can get a wiring diaghram for the engine? esp for the dist and coil

Would u have the wiring for a 1979 mercruiser 470 engine setup?. I take notice that the 87 engine they have in has a shift interupt plate mounted on the exhaust manifold. The one original to the boat is mounted on the transom. and the switch appears to be different. Or the service manual that shows how the cables for the drive are routed and adjusted
