I have a boat with a bad cylinder and a soft floor and I am not sure what to do with it so any advise would be greatly appreciated.

My questions are:

1) As a "project boat" are people generally looking to buy just the boat (hull) itself with the trailer or just the motor or all three together? Or other?
2) Is it smarter to sell it as a package deal with all issues revealed or would I be better off piecing out the parts of the motor first OR possibly selling the entire motor as is?
4) Is this time of the year (July 1st) a good time to sell a "project boat" or is it better to wait until fall as far as getting a better price would concern?
5) If you can add any advice to this please let me know anything that might help me benefit in getting a decent price for the sale.

Any help is greatly appreciated and thanks ahead of time.

Much better, cg3. I forgot to say welcome earlier. :sorry:
You might get some varied opinions, but I don't know if there is a preferred time to sell a project boat. At the peak of Summer most buyers are looking for a water ready craft. As far as price, you could place an ad on Craig's List priced as make offers. That way you can refuse any offer, unless someone makes a fantastic offer you can't refuse. I would sell the whole thing in one go.

Sell them all together. If not you will most likely sell the trailer and motor and be left with a hull that has bad floors, no motor and no trailer. At a minimum I would not separate the hull and trailer.

Thanks for the welcome GA_Boater. I apologize for the wrong listing, just did not realize I was doing wrong and I certainly wasn't trying to sell it through this website but I understand how it must have looked. I like your idea of best offer on the whole boat and being able to refuse any low offer. Thanks for the advise.

BTW, why can't I find you in the members list? I was trying to contact you to ask you where I should list this?

That stuff can be such a crap shoot sometimes unless you're sorta' a eBay/CraigsList "hobbyist." Ya' just never know who's gonna' be lookin' for what. I had an old Evinrude that I needed to get rid of, but it was a parts motor ... or "junk." I put it on CL, listed as "parts" with the whole lot for $100. Wound up having a guy drive down here from 2 states away to pick it up!

NEVER would have guessed that would work out. You can always try.

Hey - Absolutely no problem, cg. You took the advice and recovered well. This is a good section for your questions. To contact a member, just click the blue username to the left for their profile and click Private Message. As long as I see the red message light, I'll get back to you. Message notification was recently changed and easy to miss the tiny red light.

Thank you southkogs, I am going to give it a shot on craigslist and see what happens. Like you said, you just never know?
