last wknd headin back to the launch i hit two whitecaps real hard and now my motor wont open up right . I mean it idles fine starts easy but wont seem to open up in gear its like its stuck at 1/4 throttles , but on the hose it runs and runs open ups like normal but on the boat in the water its like its stuck . could i have spun the prop ? knocked the timing off ? also how would i check the prop its stainless on an 84 50 horse ? thanks

If the motor is revving at a high rpm but the boat is not moving at the speed you would expect, then it is likely a spun prop. One way to confirm this is to put a mark on the prop and a corresponding mark on the hub and then run the boat in the water for a bit. Then check to see if the position of the marks have moved relative to each other. If they did, then you have confirmed that you have a spun prop.
