Re: what would be causing 20 amp fuse to blow on motor
First Guess? Your trim pump is drawing too many amps and overloading the circuit. Is there anything else on that circuit along with the trim? Does it do it every time? Do you have a schematic for your boat and does that circuit show a 20 amp fuse as recommended? Could there be a restriction in a line or hydraulic circuit for the trim?
Remove the power wire from the trim motor and put a DVOM inline in the harness and run the trim. Set the DVOM to 200 amps and see what it reads. If it's way over 20 amps, you should pull the trim motor and check for worn bushings or other component causing the high current draw. Make sure all wiring is of course good with no bare or pinched spots to short.
