What Winch

I have a 16ft Cajun bass boat,not really sure of the weight,but I would like to know the best weight limit of a winch that I should get.<br /> Thanks

Any 1 of them will be Plenty for that little boat,.........<br /><br />You're only trying to slide the boat up the trailer,...... <br />You Don't need a rating that Could Lift the Whole boat,............

One of the winch manufacturers' web sites I looked at said a general rule of thumb was 50% of the weight of the boat as the capacity of the winch. More or less depending on your particular circumstances, bunk vs. rollers, etc. I noticed my winch for my boat is about 75% and it is definitely adequate for my bunk trailer and some pretty steep ramps. However, I usueally am able to power load within a few inches of the bow roller.

I bought my last winch here on iboats... 2 stage.. you don't need anything like that for your weight.

If you go to a marine retailer and look at the winches, the package will recommend the size boat for each model winch.
