I currently own a 1984 Mercruiser 140 4cyl. serial number 6766810 with the alpha 1 outdrive serial number 6748114 which needs bellows, a set of ujoints, a gimbal bearing and a drive yoke and seal assy in the upper drive. What would be realistic for a mechanic to charge? Thank you for any reply.

Gonna cost you!! I dont know what but it would have been cheaper to maintain the bellows better. If you have that damage already, dont drive it any more. It can get MUCH worse and MUCH more expensive fast. Are you sure this is all that is wrong?? If you rode for any length of time like this, it could be worse. Just ask Don S.

Re: What will it cost?

I was new to boating with i/o and purchased this boat two years ago from ebay. It has always leaked and I didn't really give it much consideration but after reading the postings on this forum regarding leaking bellows, I just want to be finacially ready for the worst case senario.<br />I wish Don S. would move to San Antonio.
