Hi all. First time poster. I need help ordering the water separaring fuel filter kit for my 1992 Searay 4.3L Engine number 0D802103. Picture attached. I called for assistance but no tech support. Looks like there are many similar kits bit not sure exactly which one will work for me

Welcome aboard, Lou.

Changed the thread title a little to be more descriptive.

Some general info;

There area couple of things to look for. Gallons per hour and the filtration specs. On GPH, you want a filter that will handle max fuel flow at wide open throttle (WOT). Filtration is usually either 10 or 20 microns. A high GPH flow rate and 10 micron filter is what you look for. Not sure what the GPH of your 4.3 is, so some of the Mercruiser guys will have tell you.

Two types to avoid are for diesel naturally and those with filter canisters with the clear plastic water trap which can't be used for an I/O.

There are a lot of choices - http://www.iboats.com/Sierra/dm/car...or kit--session_id.762419795--uattr.brand:224

Ayuh,.... Welcome Aboard,.... So ya need the housin', as well as a filter, Right,..??

Not just new filters,..?? I use Napa #3225, or the slightly shorter #3226 replacement filters, which have the Merc threads, 'n o-ring pattern,...

The page GA Boater posted covers 'bout All the filters iboats carries,....
The thing is, ya want the Mercruiser thread, 'n o-ring pattern,...
I Know the OMC is different, 'n won't fit a Merc housin',... I suspect Volvo is also different again yet, but don't know that as fact,...
Puttin' either on yer Merc motor, could possible drive a future owner completely Crazy, changin' it the 1st time, if not the Merc pattern housin',...

This Page, claims it's Merc filter housings, 'n filters, though I believe down at the bottom of the page, are Outboard filters, 'n housin's,...
But,....
At the top of the page, the 1st 2 rows for Sure, but probably to top 6 rows, are filter housin's that'll work for Yer motor,....
The Outboard filters, 'n housin's, I suspect are the bottom rows,...
I says claims, as I really don't like the iboats parts catalog, No real info in the listin's,.....
yer supposed to know everything by part number only,...

So long as a Merc pattern filter screws onto it, 'n it has 3/8" hose barbs,... It's the 1 for You,...
It don't matter whether ya get the plain ole die-cast aluminum, or a fancy SSteel housin', so long as it's the Merc pattern, with 3/8" hose nipples,.....

As for mountin' it,....
Anywhere 'tween the fuel tank, 'n the fuel pump works just Fine,....
Though closer to the fuel pump is most common,...

I know late 80's volvos have same threads as mercruisers.... I have used mercruiser filters, volvo filters, sierra filters and the above mentioned napa filters

For a couple of years Merc used a 'strange' filter housing, for which the elements are no longer available. You need to buy the parts so you can convert the system to the normal 'spin-on' type filter. You need the mounting and a spin-on filter cartridge and the fuel line for the conversion. Once you have that conversion, you just need the spin-on cartridge.

Use this -> http://www.mercruiserparts.com/bam/s.../31486/1599/60 to order the mounting and line to 'update' your engine. You need all parts from #11 on. The last item, bracket is NLA, but it simple enough to make up.
