I'm gonna have to pick-up an oil pump to suck out my Mercruiser. What type is recommended? 12v powered? manual? The manual says it holds 6.5 quarts so I don't want to be there all day long sucking out drop by drop. Let me know what you guys use and prefer.
Thanks again
Ken

I forgot to mention the dipstick has garden hose threads on the top of it.Should I use that as a connection point or should I get something that has a tube that goes down the dip stick?

I bought a fluid extractor kit made by tempo. it works on vacum. may not be as fast as electric but it works great. my friends are always borrowing it. I think it was about $50.00 and is well worth it

Re: What type of oil pump?

I forgot I had a pump kicking around the garage. Its a little red pump (12" or so long) I cut an old piece of garden hose, threaded it onto the dip stick and away I went. I was amazed at how fast I filled the pail, I'd been hanging onto that pump for so long for what ever reason and finally I have a need.Could some body tell me if its better to connect at the threaded dip stick or better to feed a hose down into the oil pan.
I'm asuming merc set the dip stick up for a reason and it should be adaquet.?
