Moly Lube PN 175,356. It is high friction at high heat.

Be sure to use a new o-ring.

Don't grease the top of the shaft, just the sides so that it does not hydraulically lock up

Where do you buy that lube? Just any auto parts store or is it something special. I'm going to need some soon, so just thought I'd ask in here instead of making a whole new thread.

I use standard marine grease when I remember to put it on! As I'm not in a salt water area I have never had a problem, but I do try and put it on.

BRP Moly Lube PN 175,356 is available from your local J/E dealer or try marineengine.com or ishopmarine.com.

I always thought Moly Lube was a spray type dry lube.
I learn more all the time..:D

I used the Johnson extreme pressure red grease the last time on mine.I guess its more of a wheel bearing type grease.
I have the lower off right now so i guess i need to pick up the correct stuff too..

Thanks. I've got mine apart doing a lot of R&R on it, so I'll pick some up next time I'm around a J/E shop. I passed one the other day, oh well.
