What type motor?

I just checked the model numbers for my evinrude outboard. I was told it was a 1978 175 hp. But on further checking of the numbers, I'm not so sure. The number on the side of the mounting bracket says 175749S. However, the stamp on top of the powerhead says 150949C. I know the prior owner rebuilt the powerhead last year. Looks like I have a 1979 150hp motor instead. Am I correct. I don't know if he replaced the lower unit also or does it even matter.

The 150 /175 powerheads were the all same in 1977 78 79. So are the lower units as far as gear ratio and bolt pattern. What is it you are trying to correct / change?<br /><br />Let us know!

I've had problems with stalling going to WOT. I've got the manual, but I wanted to make sure which motor I was dealing with. Thanks for your response.
