My old pump is a 3819847. My pump does not have a sticker on it, but I see a lot of the replacement pumps have a sticker on them that says to use 30W oil only. My manual says to use volvo trim fluid and no mention of 30W oil anywhere. The current fluid in my pump looks darker and browner than I am used to. I am replacing the pump with an older one (3860879) to match the harness on the replacement motor. The new pump looks like it was using ATF which is what I thought was usually used.
As far as I can tell, the only difference between the old and new pump is the motor connector. the pump part number is the same so it seems I could use either type of fluid, but don't want to mix them. Thinking about just changing out the motor and leaving the pump and reservoir as is. Is 30W oil the new fluid of choice for late model (2006) SX-M1 outdrives?
TIA
