howdy folks. ive got a little bit of a problem. i replaced my 35hp evinrude with a 50hp evinrude i bought from a friend well i sold my 35 before i got the 50 home, put the 50 on my mckee skiff and low and behold its a short shaft. my boat has a 20in transom. i figure i got about 3 potions. a jackplate, change the shaft,linkage and exhaust housing on the motor or cut 5in slot out of my transom? what to do?

I'm not being snarky at all.....I'd sell it and buy a long shaft.

I agree. Sell it and get the correct shaft length.

What year model are we talkin' about...converting to long shaft isn't that difficult. Parts needed include: longer driveshaft, housing extension, longer water tube and long shift rod connector. Jackplates aren't hard to do either.

thanks fellas. the motor is 77 50hp its a remote unit came of a deck boat and was on a jack plate. i may have found a donor motor with a bad powerhead.
