What to do with old 2 stroke mix

I have about 25 litres of 2 stroke petrol/oil mix, that I mixed up about 2 years ago.

What should I do with it? I have heard it can harm the engine, if it runs at all.

Ideally I'd rather use it than throw it out, not least because the eco centre which might take it is a long way away. Could I mix it with fresh stuff at a ratio of 3/4 new to 1/4 old?

Put it in your yard equipment or a gallon of so at a time into your car . Won't harm anything by running it in a 4 stroke engine .

Put it in the Mother in Laws car. Of course doing so will damage the Catalytic Converter(s), but hey it is the MIL

Use it, diluted in lawnmowers

Carefully use it to start a campfire. I normally use kerosene and 2 cycle oil, since K is less explosive.

As others have suggested dilute it. Do you still have the 2 stroke motor? If so dilute it and use it.

Yes I still have my Johnson 100, which I just rebuilt, so ideally I'd use it in that. What ratio would be safe to dilute it at?

I wouldn't put old phase separated fuel into any engine I cared about....diluted or not. Might be suitable for killing weeds in cracks......

Lots of conflicting answers. I cant put it on my weeds as I have a well so don't want this stuff in my water supply. I care about the engine a great deal, the rebuild has cost close to $3000.

If there is a scientific chance that adding the old fuel diluted will cause damage then I'll have to take all the old fuel to the eco centre.

I don't want to mess up my yard equipment either, so if the old fuel could damage my chainsaw or weed eater that's not good. Certainly won't put it in my F150 as im sure the oil will damage cats and o2 sensors.

put it in a parts washer if you have one , old 2 stroke makes a good grime dissolver "" ware gloves when messing with old 2 stroke fuel "".

Fuel related problems are mostly self inflicted. That goes double for all the ethanol related complaints (that aren't related to ethanol anyway).

Case in point - I have an old classic outboard boat that is used once a year - on the way to the local Antique Boat Show. EVERY year I have a half a tank of one year old gas. It gets mixed 1:1 with fresh gas.

Last year health issues caused me to miss the show. I just mixed 2 year old 2-stroke gas with a fresh 1/2 tank. The ole' 1953 Evinrude didn't even notice the difference.

My opinion - check for phase separation. If yes, dump it all. If not, mix with fresh and use it up.
