I picked up a '99 johnson 115 engine, non-running, expecting the worst, but hoping for an easy rebuild. turns out a rod tried to come out through the carb, as I discovered when I started diggin in. The block is broken there. What do you guys recommend? Should I look for another block, or should I part out the motor? everything else looks good. I have $300 in it so far... Maybe I can make that money back by selling the LU, T&T, etc? It looks like reman powerheads are in the $2500 range, and I dont think Ill get the core back either. What would you do?

a few places will take the core regardless of condition as long as all the parts are there.

Bang around ebay for a while to see if you hink you would make out better by parting your old one out.
