My boat is a 17.5 vehull wiegh in around 1900 - 2500 lbs My trailer is made for this boat, it's a bunker style trailer, I need new tires becuase the previous owner installed car tires on it which don't hold the whieght well. what kind of tires should I get? I believ the rim is a 15" rim, or I guess it could be 12" but for the sake of this post lets just assume 15" rims

thanks,
Thomas

I would go with a 215x15 or a 205 x15 6ply in trailer tire should serve your purpose well

Re: what tires?

boaterntexas,

First off, make sure what size you have.

On the sidewall, there will be a number similar to this: P235/75 R15. The 15 is the rim diameter.

Second, use only ST (special trailer) rated tires. They are different. The sidewalls are thicker which helps control sway and withsatand "curbings".

ST's are available in radial and bias ply designs. Either will work OK, the radials tend to run a bit cooler.

Re: what tires?

boaterntexas,

Look at your trailer vehicle identification tag which should be located on the front left side of your trailer. It will contain the tire size data for your specific trailer. Make sure that this matches the tire size, which mentioned earlier, is found on the tire sidewall. Use only the exact size replacement and load range rating. There are various load ranges for the same SIZE tire.
