We've not done very well this year with our walleye catch. Last year (late season), we were HAMMERING them. This year -- not so much.
So, a friend of ours told us to come on out, and follow him -- he'll show us where they are.
We were out their almost 2 hours before our friend made it on the water. We caught one -- and it was a perch. Then our buddy got there...... It's gonna be all better now.
The guy showed us the lures, and they're the same exact ones we used. EXACT. Followed him around..... He ended up leaving after an hour, because he limited out. We stuck around for another hour, because we still hadn't caught any. Not that by being on the water changed anything.... we still didn't catch anything.
Same lures -- He trolled, we were about 300 feet behind him, hitting the same spot. The only differences -- he has a gas engine that hasn't been tuned up since 1937, and we have an electric trolling motor, that's near silent.... and doesn't emit fumes.
Any ideas? There's nothing more frustrating than doing the same stuff as the other guy, using the same equipment, and getting nothing.
Thanks for the wisdom, guys.
