What speed should i run my trolling motor at to get it to last the longest??

I'm buying a 5 speed trolling motor but its for a flat back canoe so what speed should i run it at to get my battery to last the longest its a 30lbs thrust minn kota.<br /><br />------------------<br />------------------------<br />Canuck's my name fishings my game!!

on an older motor it doesnt matter, the lower speeds waste the extra juice as heat in extra windings, on a newer motor with PCM or some other type of wave clipping control it will use less battery on the lower settins, but then the speed of the oat and head wind figure in.<br /><br />maybe someone can explain it better than me
