Can anyone tell me what plugs are reccomended for a 1987 110 V4 (E110TXCUR) and the gap? I have a manual on order but I want to get a head start.

QL77JC4, or the newly recommended QL82C. Either plug is fine, and both would be gapped at .030 unless you do alot of trolling, the go to .040 on the gap.<br />By the way, Champion plugs only...

I use champion because that's what my engine's spec calls for and what my mechanic recommends, but I've always wondered, why not an "equivalent" in a different brand?

There really is no "equivalent"...the heat range may be close, but not the same...each manufacturers plugs dissapate heat at a different rate and it changes combustion charactoristics and coil and other ignition component resistance values.
