Re: What spark plug??

OK I put in the BPZ8HS and took out and ran better than ever. I had posted a stalling problem, after it ran and sat for 20 minutes or more, and out on the lake today I wakeboarded then we fished for 1 hour and it started up and ran great even at idle speeds. Here is my new question... Is the brand of spark plug going to make a difference? I mean no dissrespect. I have always had good luck with NGK in snowmobiles and also with my old boat motor. I am a journeyman automotive mechanic by trade, quit three years ago, but I always had a soft spot for AC delco plugs. So is it just preference or should I do something about these NGK's?

now I'm wondering the same thing, I have the owners manual for my 78 115 and when I went to the boat parts place today, he cross referenced the champion number in the owners manual and gave me a set of NGK's havn't put them in yet, but what's wrong with NGK's?

Dhadley is one of the premo experts here that also builds racing engines. If he says something, you can take it to the bank.

Your motor was designed to use Champion plugs. The fuel curve and timing advance were designed around Champions. Yes, you can use other brands but just make sure you check the jetting. You may have to richen up the motor, especially in the mid range.

Just for kicks check out powerhead prices here at iboats.

ok, Dhadley wins, I put the NGK's in yesterday, but brought the old champions with me and a plug wrench, and with the NGK's, it ran worse, like it was to rich, I put the old wore out champions back in it, and it ran a lot better, so I'll get a new set of champions and do it it right this time.

that's the last time I'm going to question anything Dhadley says:D
