What size wire for MinnKota 40#

I want to move my battery up to the front of my 14' john boat. I then want to install a plug on the end of the TM and a mount a receptacle near one of the rear seats.


Q1: What size wire do I need for about a 12' run?

Q2: Also where can I find the amperage for the TM (40#)? I want to make sure I get a plug that is sufficient.

Q3: Should I install a fuse in line or is that not needed?

I finally found on Cabelas website that the max draw for this TM is 40 amps. That means for a 12' run 6 guage wire should be sufficient. Here is a link to some general inforamtion.
