I have a 1972 17' Glastron tri-hull we bought used. It came with an Evinrude 175 outboard on it. I just checked the prop and its is 14 1/2 x 20. Is this the right prop for this to get the best performance? I realize that the motor is probably oversized for the boat, but am not planning on buying a different one. We aren't interested in the speed that much.

WrJ,
That prop has a 20" pitch which equates into a high speed prop(on your boat). If the motor is slow to plane, consider a lower pitch,14.5x19 or 15x17.Watch your rpm's if you get the 15x17.(make sure they don't go beyond Max.range)Sounds like your Glastron is Overpowered.Check for Max.horsepower rating.(plaque near helm area?)Do not exceed that for safety's sake!If it's too large a motor, find smaller. Also, examine the transom inside and out for stress cracks....
Happy Boating! :)

Hang On! with that 20!
