like the title says what size outboard is good for a 16ft American daysailer lets say 2 people plus gear have had no use for one but after having got out and then wind died down for about 2hrs the other day I have decided to go shopping(swimming this thing is harder than it used to be lol)

oh and feel free to flame

Thanks,

Re: what size outboard?

well I managed to find the manual and it recommends between 3 and 6hp so I now know what size to look for

A 2hp would be more than enough. If your allowed where you sail I would get an older (2005) two stroke. A little lighter and takes sitting around better if you run your oil to gas a little heavy say 40:1.

I like the 2hp honda's 4 strokes as well.

Re: what size outboard?

Thanks for the info I actually found a good deal today on a old mercury 9.5hp 2 stroke. I figure if it ends up being to strong or heavy I will sell it off to a friend that wants a bigger motor for their jon boat.

I had thought about an electric but decided I didn't want to have to deal with a battery
