What size motor can i put on a 16 ft gregor aluminum boat

Hi i have a older 16 ft gregor boat.There is no ratin g on the tag.Im thinking at least 15 to 20 hp.Unfortunatly i didnt realize when i bought it i needed a long shaft motor.Have 2 16 hp suzukis i could use but both short shaft.So need to find a long shaft motor.will use boat mostly on lakes in bc for fishing.Any help would be appreciated thanks

30 hp is a good safe number. Depending you can usually go up. I had a 70 hp on a 15' FG fishing boat that was not too much having a side console and all.

Will the transom lend itself to cutting down? Not knowing your situation, but you may choose to do that to fit your twins. However, you will appreciate the 20" and personally, I'd swap for a 30HP or so.
