well, it looks big. it looks about 1 1/2 or so. my biggest is 1 1/4 and its too small.

also, does it need to be thinwalled to fit down into the flywheel and around the nut?

my manual is vague at best. it only says" remove nut"

anybody know?

maybe
when I am not getting flamed or being sarcastic :) :) . if ya cant find it, the 3/4 drive version can be ground on the OD to fit. I have removed and replaced the flywheels using a strap wrench as a flywheel holder. trust me, rent or buy the snap-on flywheel turning tool or its equvalent. the strap wrench method is difficult :) :) but it is doable.

it is recommended to replace flywheel nut each time it is removed and torque to the specified torque in the service manual

What page of what service manual states to replace the flywheel nut each time? The later model manuals mention to coat the threads with Gasket Sealer, but nothing about replacement of the nut. Same for all the years of service training classes and seminars.

seahorse
it used to be there. the nut is a nylock and nylock nuts are a one shot locking system. technically by the book your never supposed to reuse a nylock type fastener. I dont use perfect seal but a drop of 671 locktite works well. as does gel-seal II on a thread. so I wont get into the replace the nut reuse the nut debate :) :) .
