What should the compression be on my merc110-9.8??????
I have a old merc 110--9.8hp i have checked the coils..i replaced the switch box with a new cdi box....it still does the same thing runs a bit then starts hitting on one cyl....could i have gotten a bad switch box from cdi????? Someone mentioned the stater....dont know anything about it...could someone tell me how to diagnose if the stater is bad....also any other parts that might cause this that i can chek
SOMEONE SAID CHECK COMP....HOW MANY POUNDS OF COMP SHOULD EACH PISTON HAVE?

Your symptoms say nothing about compression. "Check compression" is advice from people who haven't a clue what is causing ignition or fueling problems.

FWIW, your cylinders should compress within 10-15% of each other. Psi is irrelevant in a running engine, but should be over about 60psi if the test is done correctly in a rope start outboard.
