Im finishing up a rebuild project on a 1989 85hp force... (now around 100HP) To save myself from ruining this engine i would like to install a temperature gauge for my boat. my mechanic said that you need a gauge that reads up to 130. However i can't find any like that.. Could someone please tell me where i could find one and if that is the truth.. Also what is a good operating temp for an outboard. I heard that they blow up and overheat at around 180.. Whats the maximum temperature that they can endure?

For my Chrysler, it's around 143 deg.

What kind of modifications are you doing to get the increased horses out of your outboard. Please share. :)

I bored the 3 pistons .004 put wiseco racing pistons in there made specially for 2 strokes because they have grooves to retain oil and get better compression.. Bored out the intake and exhaust to get more fuel through... After doing all this work i dont want to fry it so i need to know a good operating temp for it and what temp is too hot
