Not sure if "checking the boat" counts as this but no matter what it looks like - get a structural inspection before you buy or make the offer contingent on the boat passing one. I put an offer on a boat that looked great...problem was the whole port side was full of water and delaminated...would have been a "donation" boat in a year or less. Spend the money (mine cost around $300) - much cheaper than the alternative.
