I have a 1990 basstracker Nitro 175TF and i need a trolling motor. I found one and it has a 42in shaft. Will this work for me?

Bow mount TM? You are going to need to do some measuring unless someone has the exact same boat.

You want the edge of the prop at least 12" below the water's surface, more for wavy conditions where the prop raise up and suck air, so figure about 16-18" of shaft in the water. Then about 6" of the shaft will be above the deck mount. As long as the deck mount location is around 18" from the water surface, you should be OK with the 42" TM,,, unless it's real windy.

I have a 48" bow TM on my 18'er with a lot of freeboard, probably 24" from the deck mount location to the water surface, and in very windy conditions the shaft is not long enough, the TM sucks air.
