I was told, possibly assumed, I have 25'' shaft engine but am not sure now.

Looked in my service manual and it lists standard and long shaft but doesn't give a length, I have a E50BELCI listed as long shaft.

Current is, standard is 15'', long is 20'' but I don't know if that was the case back in 1981 when the engine was made.

The boat transom measures 21 7/8, I run a 6'' set back which is right at 20'' and I have a hole to drop yet so I am thinking it is a 20'' but want to confirm.

Is that what I have now?

Going to repower and new engines only come in 20''.

The "L" in the model number means 20 inch (long) shaft. A 25" would be "X"----if they even made them in 1981.

You have a motor built for a 20" transom.--It is a long shaft.--And I do not believe they offered a 25" version of your motor in 81 model year

Sweet,I thought it was 25'', can't recall where I got that but cool.

Was really not wanting to cut the boat to get the new motor on.

Now I just have to wait and see how soon I can get the new engine, missing fishing trips and it is killing me.
