I'm trying to figure out what sealer to use when I bolt my lower gear case back together. It's on an old 6hp Evinrude. I've heard to use a hardening sealer, and also heard just regular RTV that stays flexible and is non-hardening. Does it really make much difference? Also, does anyone know where I could get a used recoil spring for 1967 6hp Johnson? Or anything alittle cheaper than the $38.00 one I found locally?

Re: What sealer to use on lower gear case

Just got a recoil spring for my '55 johnson 3hp twin. Paid $18 with shipping and received in to days (MN to KY). Not very fun to replace but a bad day working on my boats/motors beats a good day at work, and from what I gather on this board, I don't think I am alone. None other than J.B. set me up with these guys at Twin Cities Outboard. They are real good to work with and probably have about any part you will need.

Twin City Outboard Motor Parts
600 Canterbury Road, Shakopee, MN 55379
(952) 496-1951
