What prop size? AQ151-20' Sun Runner?

My boat has a 290 Volvo Penta outdrive, and I think it currently has a 17 pitch prop on there now. I am looking for a new aluminum prop to give me more accleration but doesnt lose any top end. My boat takes a good distance to get on plane.

We need to know your present max rpm and speed.Usually faster hole shot and top speed don't go together.Get us those specs,may be able to do something.

My max rpm for my 4cyl Volvo is 5500 RPM and my boat runs or reads on the speedo 20 give or take. But I think at that speed my rpms are reading just below 5500, maybe around 4800-5000.

OK need more.Is a sunrunner a pontoon?If not then something isn't right
I would think you would be around 40.with that setup.
Is 4,800-5,000 your present wot rpm?

88' Sun Runner is a small cuddy cabin type boat. Maybe my speedo is off. Also the boat is like acouple of months new to me. It still needs a real good tune on the carbs. I was told I should go to maybe an 19 pitch.

If your motor is rated at 5,500 and your presently at 4,800-5000 you don't want to increase pitch.You should decrease pitch.But to me 15" is extreme to use just to make max rated rpm. Don't know your hp or gear ratio but a 17 seems
a little low to me.I would think your hole shot would be adaquate with a 17
and rpm closer to the rated.
Be sure your motor is in excellent tune,throttle is opening all the way and has good compression.Is the bottom clean?After checking things take a look at the Turning Point props.Stainless performance at Aluminum prices.
Some are vented to improve hole shot without effecting top end.
