Hi, I have done this once before a few years back but need a little memory refreshing. Motor is 1982 70hp evinrude. I have purchased a waterpump kit w housing, what can I use to glue the large o ring "gasket" to the housing so it doesnt fall off as I slide the housing down the shaft? Waterpump kit is Part 18-3389 Thank you

I use 3M black weatherstrip adhesive. Dries good to hold it in place, stays flexible so it will compress as it should

A bit messy but works great

3M 847 is ideal if you have it. Same as used to reseal gearcases.

If you are only concerned with sticking the oring in the housing, it really doesn't much matter. Whatever sticky goo you have on hand will do.

Me too. But not enough to go out and buy some for just that one use.

Thanks everyone.

How about permilux super high tack? I have that, It says used to hold gaskets in place while assembling.
...not sure if its non hardning.

I also have a non hardling gasket sealer I think I used last time but it doesnt dry fast or tacky so its harder to keep the gasket in place
