What pitch prop for 16' Key Largo w/ 50 hp?

Hi guys I just bought a 2009 16' Key Largo center console, 2009 yamaha 50 hp 2 stroke. Boat takes forever to plane, and tops out at 29.5 mph (fastest we got all day) at 5000 RPMS. I know this motor is rated for 5500 RPMS. The current prop is a factory yamaha aluminum 11 1/4 x 14-6.

I would like to replace the prop with one that will get me the best performance and a better hole shot.

What pitch would you recommend?

BTW Im also adding a pair of smart tab sx's to the boat, if that will affect the prop I need.

Install your tabs then decide if you need to check back with us, if you have already purchased them. However, you are on the low end of your rpm range and 2 strokes don't like to be lugged. Reducing your pitch a couple of inches would improve your rpm's and your hole shot.

If you haven't bought the tabs yet, change the prop then reconsider the tabs, or see if you can get your money back after you test the prop, if it solves all your problems....which it probably will. You really should change the prop anyway, so why not do that first.
