I've just finished building my new trailer.I only use it in the sea so I need really good rust protection from a limited budget. Any suggestions as to what type of paint I should use? I will be priming it first with a rust inhibiter.

Trailers not galvanized? You can buy Galvanized paint, dont know how good it works Wash trailer down when you get home, install a flushing kit if your trailer has brakes.

I've had really good luck using brush-on (pickup truck) bed liner. Even though you're in South Africa, this stuff should be easy enough to find. Not as cheap as paint, but a whole lot more durable!

Seen a few with the same, looks real good too, I used undercoating under the fenders, steps where the crap gets in. Seems to be working well.

I don't think there's any paint that will protect a steel trailer from salt water. Also, you can't paint the inside of the tubing. It may be possible to have it galvanized (dipped) by a shop that does this sort of thing. Do this before you put it in salt water.
