I have a 15' fiberglass jon boat. I bought it used and the exterior is faded a good bit. I'm trying to figure out if i should just paint it or if I could just wax it or something. If it is better to paint what is a good kind of paint to use.
I mean it is not faded horribly its just not shiny at all.

sounds like classic oxidation. you may want to try wet sanding with 1000 - 1500 grit sandpaper. labor intensive but cheaper and easier then a paint job...after that use a good cleaner wax followed by a good uv resistant wax. you may also try a deoxidizer ( goes on just like wax ). can be found at any auto supplier....as for the interior, id do the same thing - but if you cannot get the results you desire: i had good experience with a topside paint from interlux. very user friendly...if your boat is red - the deoxidation process can become an annual project. good luck

This is a boat question, not an outboard question. Please repost in the Boat Forum.
