Re: What other questions to ask workmans comp attorney? Busted up leg pretty bad 2 mo
I assume you believe you can return to the same work, is that true? Will your leg allow you to? If not, you need to think long term about re-education and training. Also consider that if you are forced to make a career change, return to school, etc. there is still a problem and it's that you will be entering a new field as a "newbie" and not have the years of experience you have in your current job.
Lets say you have 10 years experience vs. zero experience, there is usually a large difference in salary and your attorney needs to address it. Even if (especially if) you are staying with the same company. Seen way to many people seriously hurt and the company "creates a job" for them, with no future and well out of sight. Translated, a dead end so the person quits, still has to retrain and start from scratch again.
No I dont think I can do duties anymore, climbing like a monkey every day on un safe equip, ship cranes , bad weather, I have 28 years in IT, 7 with maritime IT, I wont put myself in danger anymore, our co. is not very safe, there are truck pedestals I warned everyone about years ago, you could get impaled on horrifically, no one wants to pay, I do not trust my company in the least, sure may have a job, have position terminated, get fired for anything, stuff Ive never done, my supervisor and his are incompetent and they know it, got jobs cuz they knew folks, folks quit, an "open" position, now they the cubicle rats in software think they are "seasoned pros" as opposed to US guys who actually DO the work in the field, and I got hired as a manager pay wise, trained my guys, but they will not want to keep paying my salary, so I will get blackballed (atty says) but ok, I can find another job, at the very least they owe me a fixed shoulder(not reported this summer for 2 mos) and a leg (worst booboo) < I have mouths to feed and a mortgage, have been getting 66% pay no tax which same as take home before from workmans comp, and still employeed with bennies for me and kids.
Again, I do NOT trust anyone.
