what other parts do i need to put the prop on?

i have a 1984 30hp mariner that i just bought, it has no prop, just the shaft sticking out of the lower end... i know i will need a prop nut but are there any other parts i will need? or do i just stick the prop on? i know my other boat had some washer type things behind it and a locking part behind the nut.<br /> Thanks

u have answered yur ? in part already... yes it<br />needs the lock washer that bends over top

hello<br /> place the seriel number on the mercury parts express web site and see what it shows. there is definately a thrust washer that goes on first then the prop then the nut. some small mercs only had a nylon nut. look at the parts site. good luck and keep posting
