What oil to use?

I am running 2001 twin Yamaha HPDi’s and for the last couple years I have been using Pennzoil Premium synthetic.When my mechanic found out he told me not to use anymore. He says he has seen motors burn up on Pennzoil and to use only Yamaha oil.
Anyone have thoughts on this.

Yes----Use what your mechanic suggests.-----But oil and lubrication on 2 strokes is not well understood.---You have been running for 2 years.-----How many hours ?----What is the compression today compared to 2 years ago ?-----Ask 10 people about oil / grease and you get 15 different opinions.

Thank you racerone, that’s what I’m getting everyone I talk to has a different opinion.

Look at the spec for the oil required by Yamaha. Buy any brand that meets or exceeds that spec. It will be fine.

If you Google "Pennzoil Premium synthetic in yamaha hpdi" you may find you mechanic is misinformed.
