Had the boat out for the first time from I bought it last week. Was unsure aout what the ratio was for the 2 stroke oil.

I searched the net and went for 50:1 but I'm still unsure so any help is greatly appreciated!

Its a Johnson 60hp made in 1972 (I think), the Model number is J60ELCIA.

If anyone knows I wouldly be very great full :D

Thanks

Not any good with litres, but you need 1 pint (16oz) of oil to 6 gallons of gas.

6 gallons is about 27 litres. So I should be using a bit less than a pint

I used far less than that when I took it out!

Is it definitely 50:1 for my engine?

this needs to be a sticky in the top secret file.

Hmm. 50 litres of fuel to 1 litre of oil. *whargrblasdflkjc* = 400ml oil to 20liters of gasoline.

J60ELCIA is a 1981 60 hp.
50:1 is the correct ratio.
You probably don't get oil in pint containers, but here it is easy to mix, 1 pint can in the 6 gallon tank the motor came with and you are done.
Mixing the oil/gas is not rocket science, I would much rather run the ratio a little rich on the oil side than a little lean.

Definitely 50:1.

6 gallons is 22.7 liters. Dividing that by 50, I get .454, so a little bit less than 1/2 liter, if my math is correct. Say 1/2 liter to be on the safe side.

Also you should use marine TCW-3 rated 2-stroke oil. Bottles of marine oil usually have convenient charts on the back label showing how much oil for different amounts, in gallons and liter.

Brilliant help! Thanks a lot.

I was running it far to lean when I had it out! Will get it right this time though :D

Thanks again

50:1 means 20 L of fuel divided by 50 = .4 L of oil (400 ml)

It really is a whole lot easier to figure out than pints/gallons.

Oh so true!

50:1 is 20ml oil to every litre of gasoline.

If percentages are your thing 50:1 is 2%

Ah that makes a lot more sense to me, percentages are a lot easier to work out.

Will I notice any differences than when I had it running very lean? Accept the fact that my engine won't blow up
