what oil (crankcase) for '90 4.3 L v6 mercruiser?

guys,<br /><br />dont kill me here....i have ordered a manual today and am away from my boat for the day. i wanted to pick some oil up on my way home so...<br /><br />which oil (brand and weight/viscosity) do you guys recommend?<br /><br />thanks,<br />dave

I personally use Mobile 1 10w30. I have a 3.0, don't know if that will make a difference though. I would guess that you would be fine with a straight 30 or 10w30.

In summer heat we use 40 HD in every thing, here we go :rolleyes: :p ;) :D

i use mercs 25-40 oil, i have a 4.3 also.im sure you will here about every oil thats out there.

I use 30, have a friend who uses 10-30 and another that uses 40. If you have any compassion for people at all you will delete this post. lol.

im surprised by the variety. but regular auto oil is fine?, i dont need any marine specific brand.....i know its just a car engine in there but just checking......
