What name brand carb. & what impeller do I have..?

I have a 1977 70hp Johnson Model# 70EL77S Serial# J4743211

I took my motor in to have it tested cause it would idle fine but would die after quarter throttle..

Compression, Power Pack, Coils, Spark, Timing, and fuel lines all tested good..

I bought this boat for $400 from a friend that told me it ran but failed to tell me that he last ran it back in 2007..

The mechanic told me the carbs are gummed up from improper storage.

I'm looking to buy 3 Carb. kits, 12 gal. Fuel tank, Main fuel line, Impeller kit, from iboats, but I need to know what carb kit w/float do I get..? I see there's 4 diff. name brand carbs for this motor..

Whats the name brand of these carbs..?

I aslo need a part # for the Impeller kit..

The numbers stamped on each carb is 322292

Two alternative makes for non OMC parts Mallory or Sierra. Both offering a kit with a float or a kit without a float.

Your choce buy the OEM kit , a Sierra kit or a Mallory kit.

Similar with the pump/impeller but iBoats only seem to offer the Sierra kit without a housing http://www.iboats.com/mall/partfind...gd_poid=110966&gd_row=48&**********=792908654 Maybe Malloy dont do a pump kit for this engine

it does not matter who made the carb....the kits are just different companies is all...on carb kits and water pump kits...I prefer the OMC kits....other kits are made by sierra..mallory..and such...get the one by OMC..reason is they keep them updated with any new improvements..and the quality is there....may cost a bit more..but worth....

others will chime in..and most will say OMC also.....just get the kits for your year ..HP... and model is all.....

chiming in !never had a issue with sierra,as a matter of fact i prefer their coils for older j/e,s over omc.
