What motor is this?

Im talking to guy right now about a motor off of craigslist that he says was given to him and he doesnt no if it works or the size or really anything about this motor.

Looks like about a 1972(?) Evinrude 18HP?

I'm betting that it's a 25, but it could be an 18 or 20. The 18 and 20 only go up to 1973. You can find a quarter sized plug around the cylinder area. That will have the model number and serial number on it too. Some times, the tag on the transome clamp mysteriously dissappears.

I have one that looks just like it, mine is a 1972 25 hp

he finally sent me the serial # its a 1971 18hp

Cool deal. The 18's are great motors and proven, since 1957. Enjoy it.
