Reading up i thought it should have an "Atomic 4"

But closer inspection reveals nothing I can find any info on

The boat is a 1982...The Registration says Pearson 25 Family Cruiser...the Title Says Bayliner 25 Family Cruisers (same #'s though)

In the engine compartment is a Blue Powerhead, two cylinder...plugs in the rear like an omc johnson twin, flywheel on top...

underneath the boat is a lower unit with a three blade prop

Any ideas?

Perhaps a couple pictures of the motor would be better than a picture of the bottom and prop. Also a closer picture of the lower unit.

"OMC Saildrive" is actually the name of your "lower unit" isn't it?. The motor definitely looks like an Atomic. We were posting at the same time, lol.

Ooops, I see it now. Wow, is that a 2 cylinder gasoline motor?

LOL

But I don't understand....I researched Atomic 4 Motor and it didn't come up with anything like this

I guess I got confused since it says "4" but it's a "2" cylinder

Any Idea what it might be worth? It's not locked up....thats as far as I've gotten...the 25 ft sailboat its in is junk (to me) and I bought it for the trailer and the new rigging for my Mac Venture 23 cutter

No, I tried to edit my other post. Dang "refresh", lol.

Crowley Marine still has an online parts catalog for these old motors so they could probably help a bunch;
http://www.crowleymarine.com/omc_sail_drive_parts.cfm

I'd imagine it would have value on Ebay for parts and the right "enthusiast".

I'd definitely part it out. If it's all there, you've got carbs, wiring, heads, etc. etc. etc.

But it's for sure a OMC Sail Drive motor, so I can get the record cleared up that I screwed up, lol.

Re: What motor is in this Pearson 25??

It's an outboard powerhead, and has absolutely nothing to do with an atomic 4 engine.

The motor you have is a 2 stroke, the atomic 4 is a 4 stroke. You would have been very lucky had you had an Atomic 4.

Your best bet on the motor is to post in the Johnson/Evinrude forum for engine repair questions. Ripping it out and putting something else in it's place is not going to be an easy thing to do. The hull is designed FOR the sail drive.
