Hi guys,
I have just bought a brand new Ceasar Thundercat (Similar to Zapcat) with a new Tohatsu 50hp 2stroke carb 3cylinder

I want to install a tacho so I know what RPM i'm running at. Can anyone recommend me what model TinyTach I need, since it's a 3 cylinder?

Here's the link to the models available: http://www.tinytach.com/tinytach/gasoline.php#

Or is there a better solution out there?

Tohatsu has it's own tachometer's, but they are analog and round.

Re: What model TinyTach for Tohatsu 50hp?

Hi again guys,
Managed to get myself a Commercial spec TinyTach as it has a .5 second refresh rate.

Last question I promise.... Does the engine fire a spark every 180degrees? The options on the TinyTach are 1 spark:360degrees or 2sparks:360degrees .... I hope it doesn't spark every 120degrees :(

Every 120 degrees as it is a three cylinder engine.

hey alt ..... the tiny tach you need, you have to special order, if you e-mail them they will be able to help you with the correct one, as they have to add something to filter the interference on the other 3 cylinders to get an accurate reading ...... I use the quicksilver digital tach and it works great, another tach that works great is the stihl tach (ones they use one chain saws) ...

Hi DJC, I emailed the UK distributer (Closest to Ireland) and they said that i'd need the Commercial TinyTach. I took their word for it and it's now sitting beside me, waiting to fit to the boat... hope it works OK
