I found two numbers on my Evinrude.

Anyone know what year this is and where is the best place for a user manual??

g2323804

and

583740 19ao-oa

Or is there another number that I should be looking for??

Motor looks to be around a 1990 model.-----Your numbers are a part # and a serial # and neither is used to find the year.-----Need the model # for that------If the lower cowling is a 2 piece unit it is 89 or newer.

Model number would be either on a tag on the clamp bracket or on a freeze plug on the cylinder block. The number on your plug is NOT the model number, which implies you have either a replacement powerhead or a factory rebuild. That leaves the tag on the clamp bracket.

Call BRP customer service with the # on the plug and maybe they can help you. 1-262-884-5993.

I found a number on a tag on the clamp bracket. C 02323804. There was barely anything left to it and not sure if that is the model #.

I am new to motors and don't know where the freeze plug on the cylinder block is. Please post an image.

The number on the " welch plug " is the same as the # on the transom bracket and is the serial #-( first picture )----I looked in the 1991 brochure and it sure looks to be a 91 if cowling is original.--------They all looked very similar for a few years back then. The " welch plug " is mistakenly called a " freeze plug " on these outboard motors.--But it is a term that many folks are familiar with.

I am about to get this motor gassed up but have three questions before I start.

There is a tank for oil that goes with it but it is cracked. The guy who fixed the motor says I can stick a bolt in that tube that leads to the motor to plug it and just add oil to the gas.

Is he right?

If so, what type of oil can I use and at what ratio to the gas?

I have two 6 gallon gas tanks for the boat. How much oil do I put in these if full of gas?

Thanks again for your help. I can wait to get this in the water.
