For the last few years I have been buying the Winn-Dixie trees for 20 dollars. Didnt change Christmas a bit. ;)

We usually get an 8' Noble Fir and pay from $70 - $120. This is usually a Christmas gift from my mom and she likes the big ones, so I oblige her . . . :) Most often we end up at Home Depot or the Lions Club lot here. The Lions lot has better selection, but is at the high end. Home Depot, Lowes etc. are usually around $40 cheaper for the same height.

I think I have become a trader to Christmas, this year I bought a plastic tree. Sorry, don't throw stones, or pine cones, or whatever. Daughter is alergic to real tree. As a child she wanted a real tree, no matter what. No that she is older, and one of the grand kids is alergic she asked us to not keep a real tree because of the grand kids. The house just doesn't smell like Christmas.

I always favored the Douglas fir for its wonderful fragrance.

I stopped buying Christmas trees a long time ago, but whichever of my children I spend Christmas with usually has a Douglas fir.

We were always lucky growing up and would topple our own blue spruce on our property at the lake. Throw it on a tobaggon and haul it back to the house.

When we moved to Texas we bought mainly Washington firs or double balsams. Since moving to the beach, a tree dosen't last too long and our house is quite a bit smaller since we moved so we finally bought a Washington a few years ago. We spent a lot of money on it too, but there is nothing like the real thing to me.

I chopped down my own grand fir this year at a farm less than a mile from my house, $15 and about 9' tall. :D When I see signs that say "any tree, $35" I think that's severely overpriced.

8' Frazier fur, cut your own, comes with free hot chocolate, a hayride there and back with the fallen tree, and they let you bring your dog. $26.00

Re: What Kind Of Tree Do You Buy

Two years ago we gave in and bought an artificial tree. It's a Polyester or or maybe Poly-vinyl hybred. :D

Before that we used to go to a tree farm and hike all around the hills looking at the different trees. Cut it down, tie to the SUV and bring it home. We had a lot of fun.

I think the cleanup, needles in the carpet, the young kids in the house, fire isseus, are some the reasons we finally gave in and bought a fake tree. We used to pay $45 for a fresh cut tree.

When the leaves fall off the mesquites I cut one and spray paint it white. Usually decorate in white with blue bulbs. Looks cold (we hardly ever have much cold here) we love it. Befour mesquite it was cedar cut here on the ranch,
but so many of the kids and grandkids were allergic to it we went to mesquites. Merry Christmas to all. lwr

When I lived in Northern CA, we would just go down to the bottom of the 40 and cut a young incense cedar, there were hundreds of them.

Now that I'm back where I belong, I go out to the back of the property and get a young sitka spruce. Got tons of them too, and they're pretty, they smell nice, and they're prickly as h#ll so the cats leave them alone... ;-)

I've actually considered putting in an acre or two of christmas trees, we are in a good spot for it. I'd do Doug firs, I think.

Just cut a fraser fir on my brothers Xmas tree farm. the frasers have real staying power but a balsam or spruce sure smell nicer.
