Looking for some help, I want to put a storage area in my boat that when i open the lid an interior light comes on, like a glove box in your car. What is that type of switch called, open-closed button switch? Thanks
Nope, it is a momentary switch. There are more varieties of these than you can shake a stick at. There are switches that operate with a plunger as well as levers in various shapes and sizes. Go to Radio Shack and talk to someone over 16 years old. Tell them you want to see a selection of momentary switches that can be operated when a lid is opened. Use your refrigerator light as an example.
You want a Normally Closed, Momentary Open push button switch. That way it will make a connection and close the switch and turn on the light when the door is open.
