I run a pioneer CD deck that has USB input so I can run ipod or USB thumb driver. Think I paid $49 when goodguys was going out of business. For speakers, I like polk DB-651 as they fit into most openings, can be had for $30-$40 on amazon when on sale and are actually decent speakers. I don't worry about marine rated for the deck or speakers. All speakers, marine or not, die in the boat. Acoustically, a boat is crap so don't go overboard.

I do put in good amps and wiring as they are out of harms way and I only want to install those once.

I put a pyle system in mine that i got off ebay. Headunit, waterproof cover and 4 speakers. I put a amp and a dual sub in also. Sounds great. Got the pyle kit for $100 with shipping

Re: what kind of speakers and headunits do you guys have in your jet boats?

i have dabbled in both marine audio and regular car audio and have learned a few things...

~ any thing with marine in the name costs at a min 30% more
~ marine cd players skip less
~ with the open top of a boat compaired to a car or house, you can only get so much clean full sound
~ you can never have enough amp'd power reguardless of what volume

my current boat has a marine sony head unit that is running through rca's into a car amp. the rear speakers are the origional marine speakers installed by Rinker. the front are some el cheapo's (not too cheap though) pioneer 6x9's (for a car) that i put in to replace the blown 5 1/4's pioneers that were also for a car.

i have used car headunits before and just made sure that they were incased with a marine radio box and have never had an issue. as for the speakers if they are in the open and can get wet, use marine or you will be replacing them often when the cones get wet. fortunately right now the front speakers and amp are up under the dash where they dont see sun or water.

save your money for more important things on the boat
